I enjoyed reading this. And I think it's a common topic among writers. Inspiration is a fickle mistress. She leaves you waiting but waits for no man. She picks her times and topics and shares them with the muse who may or may not be forthcoming to spill the ink that is her life's blood on some pristine white page. Don't force it, let it come and wait for it and have a pen and pad ready when it does. That's the extent of my creative advice. That and read...because iron sharpens iron.

that closet where in lies lost words misplaced misgivings purposefully placed secrets and the frights within
all elusive until the dam burst and all a plenty returns
such is life eh?
a realistic portrait painted using metaphors en masse

Welcome to wot woz my world not so very long back .. As a lover of words, I really feel for you mate .. but hey, you knocked this little beauty up didn't ya .. Keep them chins up Tim it aint gonna last forever, nowt ever does ........ Neville
I am so glad that I won't be the one clearing out that closet when I shuffle from this mortal coil, although if it were a TV show, I would probably tune in just to see what horrors they find. 😊
It does answer why, as the older I get, the more I realise there is never quite enough closet space in my life. I can't fit any more used journals in for all those ghost words lost to memory.

Something we all suffer from. I haven't met a poet yet who doesn't get the block at times. That's when it can be useful to dig around for all those poems started and not finished. An opportunity. So relatable Tim.

Thanks very much for your wise thoughts, Chris. :)
very evocative poem about the way we poets compose and then idly toss bits of hard effort into the metaphorical closet, to maybe pull out one day sometime in the distant future. I also share the sense that those I have tucked way back in the closet are the ones I fear the most.
