as though pulled in by some desire or force, some decide to take a ride back to Writers Cafe.
It's not always a long visit, yet they still come back as though returning to their old home.
"I remember Robbie, or Marie, or Frieda P," they might say.
They may recall this place in a way one might remember flags that lined porches or trees on each side of the street where they lived. But still, they remember this place. Their names are still on the mailbox.
For better or worse, this is a community.
Some have moved on, as they should. And some are still here, pruning nouns or mowing verbs.
Some have even died.
The street may look different. Trees may be bigger. And old friends may be gone for good.
But on this block, you're never turned away no matter how long you've been gone or how many times you move on.
There will always be opportunities to write about the sun, the rain, a train...
Writers Cafe on this block, once in a while, they still come back.
Well, one of the new ones here. So far it doesn't look like the other sites I've been on.. Wattpad and writing.com.. Grrrrrr everything is about paying for getting advertised and the a*s kissing..
Don't care for that stuff, sooo after some exploration I decided on this site
We'll see how it goes.
Cheers

Thank you, and.. No problem
This was an enjoyable read.

Haha ... we do indeed always keep coming back. I suppose poets need their support network more than most.
This write got me smiling and remembering those glory days at the cafe. We were certainly there for each other, weren't we? Maybe it is time to rediscover some of that magic:)

I like this place, as aside from the interaction, which I find very community orientated, we have some really good writers, (of both prose and poetry,) ; and as John the Baptist highlighted, there are far less angry types circulating than there are on other sites.
First and foremost, writing poetry is for me a pleasant and enjoyable experience, and I have no desire to have that pleasure taken away from me by those whose primary aim is to promote discord.
Let us hope that Writer's cafe will remain the nice place it is well into the future.
Beccy.

Yes, Beccy, let us hope. Thanks very much for the comment. :)
This is a very nice perspective on the site, Relic, and interesting for a newcomer like me. You have described this place with a fondness that I am not qualified to comment on as yet. Loved the gardening reference of pruning nouns and mowing verbs......now...if only we could prune these annoying ads and glitches as well. An enjoyable read.🌹

Thanks for your comment, Fran. This is a hard place to get away from. :)
I'm one of them. You're so right. Something called me back to this place. It's probably all the fond memories I have of the people I met here and the all the amazing writings I read.

I guess I'm still relatively new compared to some, 6 years and counting, yet in that time I've seen many come and go, quite a few announcing themselves as if the prodigal son only then to produce bucket loads of tripe :))
Hi Relic, hope all is well with you and your pa.

Like an old dog still goes to check out his old home each day, just in case the owners who abandoned him to the streets and moved on might be back and explain the misunderstanding and make him wag his tail in instant forgiveness. We get used to the faces and realise we haven't seen someone in a while and get met with "account closed" as we click on the shadow they leave. Some explain, others don't and on it goes, until we become the one spending longer and longer in stasis, only to return to confirm what we always thought, that nothing is the same anymore and why did MySpace lose the battle with f***b**k?
I barely notice those young whippersnapper neighbours that have taken over the street anymore, but shouldn't they be in bed for school or something? Nothing to do with me getting older at all. I think I'll just sell up, then grumble, moan and rant for a bit, before renting my house back from the person I sold it too. 😊
