My Way Out

My Way Out

A Poem by Chad

Promise me you won't look back and see what your heart tells you to see. I know it's me, darling, please do not let it be. For the last thing a broken heart needs is to be accompanied by such sights. Surely, there is another way out of here. Will I fall? Will there be anything left after I lose you? Surely, there is another way out. I've crawled and called your name for so long. This can't be it. This can't be all there is. Surely, I am only seeing what my heart tells me to see. Darling, it is you. The light is fading, darkness invading my every thought, everything seems to be falling down around me. Surely there is a way out. Surely, it is you.
