The Pain Relieves MeA Poem by ChadI let it get this wayWhy does Treason taunt me so? Making promises it cannot keep. Yet, I find them hard to disregard. Hard to not believe in its soft-spoken words. Relieve me of my burden. Prove to me that it’s not too good to be true. I’ve seen through Treason thus far. Why does my vision falter now? Why does Treason taunt me so? Coaxing me close witih promises it cannot keep, then driving its splintered stake straight through my heart. Yet, I am not about to pull it out. For the pain relieves me of my burden. Perhaps this is why Treason seems so trusting at first. Perhaps this is why I let Treason taunt me so. Why I find it hard to disregard the distant promises it makes. Why my vision has faltered, and my perception been altered. Why does Treason taunt me so? © 2008 Chad |
