Dun dun dunnnnnn! The alarm went off. Nicole and Noel awoke with a start, not used to the alarm. They giggled when they realized what the music was. Jumping up, they grabbed their clothes they had laid on the extra beds. Then, they went into the bathroom. Last night, they had been so tired that they hadn't showered or anything, so they washed their hands and faces. After that, they headed off to the dinning hall. When they entered, the girls surveyed the room for a free table. When they found one, they headed to the food line. There were several food choices, but since the girls didn't know what they were doing, they went for a butter bagel with some fruit and, of course, hot tea. It was the drink they had every morning. Here, however, there was a huge shelf full of all different kinds! The girls each picked out a bag, then plopped it into the steamy mugs. They sat at them empty table, and no-one came over, so they just ate quickly and quietly. Then, Nicole and Noel headed over to the treadmills. The man who had escorted them so much was there, and so were Nic and Erin. The four children exchanged glances but kept silent. The man nodded at them. "Did you have a good night's sgirls?" He asked. They smiled and nodded. "Yessir, thanks." "Very well then." He said."Now, i want you each to get on a treadmill and set it for the middle speed and elevation. Got it?" They all nodded that they understood. "Good. Now get started." There was a moment where all the machines clicked as they were set, the soft whoosh of the treadmill board, and the soft footfalls of the children. They all kept it up for twenty minutes, then the boys dropped out. They were rich and spoiled and hadn't done any sports, where the girls had run every day for at least half an hour. You could tell the boys were embarrassed when the girls were still fine after an hour, because Nic crossed his arms and Erin turned away. An hour later, the girls stopped and jumped off the machines, then looked at the man. He shrugged."Before you go on your first mission, you all should be able to run at least six hours with little or no breaks. But it was a good start, girls." The boys rolled their eyes. "Now we need to find you all swords." He motioned to the children, who each shot an excited look to the other twin. The escort lead them to a large building."This is the weaponry." More excited looks exchanged. The man (the girls decided to call him Ben) lead then to a room that seemed to sparkle. When they reached the room, the children saw why it seemed so. The room was filled with gleamingly sharp swords that had jewel hilts. And not just all one length. No, the lengths went from the length of a pocket knife to six feet battle swords. Noel felt immediately drawn to her sword. It's blade was a pewter color, was about two feet long. The hilt was about six inches long , and it was a solid deep purple stone with a turquoise jewel at the top. Carefully, she picked it up. She swished it in the air, feeling it's weight. It felt perfect, like it was made specially for her. 'Ben' came over. "This is a very special sword..." He said, looking at her oddly. "How does it feel?" She nodded, shifting it in her hand. "I like it." He nodded, then turned back to the other children. Noel followed him. Nicole's was exactly like her's, except the hilt was a bright teal with a purple jewel, and the blade was about three feet long. Nic's had a silver blade , which was about one and a half feet long, and the hilt was black with a white jewel. Erin's blade was the same color as his twin's and the same length as Noel's, with a white hilt and black jewel. Ben nodded. Just then, the lunch bell rang. He handed them each a sheath that matched the blade, and told them to strap them on and after they ate they would learn how to handle them. They all ran to lunch, and were told to eat together. It was another silent meal.
