Chapter 3A Chapter by Kia-chan!this is where she meets Mandy, and Jonothan for th first time. Hope you like!"Come in, come in! Make your'selves at home!", My father said, after he opened our front door for Mandy and her son, Jonothan. I was standing right behind my Dad, so I had a clear view of our guests. Standing before the threshhold, was a short, plump woman, with bleach, blonde hair. she wore a red dress, down to her knees, and black stilleto heels. Standing next to her, was a boy my age, wearing a blue Hollister T-shirt, regular jeans, and white shoes. He had long-ish blonde hair, and his eyes were as blue as the sky. I had to admit to myself, he was pretty cute-- for a jock, of course. He was taller then me, as most boys are. mandy didn't even waste time saying hello, she simply leaned up to my fathers face, and gave him a great big smooch. It made me sick. I quickly turned away, as if looking at them kiss would make me go blind. Jonothan wasn't exactly fond of it either, because he too, was looking in the other direction. When they finally seperated, my father said, "Now, now, Mandy...I do love kissing you, but not in front of the children". Yeah, right.

When dinner was done cooking, we all sat down at the table. My father purposely sat me next to Jonothan, even though I had no intention of being anywhere near him. While me and Jonothan were seated next to eachother at one side of the table, Mandy and my Dad were over on the other side, teasing eachother, playfully. It made me want to gag. "Light? After dinner, why don't you take Jonothan on a tour around the house? Afterall, he will be living here with us once Mandy and I are married", my Dad said, as I twirled my fork around the spagetti noodles on my plate. I shrugged. "Whatever", I said. My father scowled at me. "Goodness. Could you stop being so excited about this?", he asked me, sarcasticly. I rolled my eyes, and drank the rest of my soda. Mandy, and my Dad were drinking wine, and me and Jonothan were both drinking Dr.Peppers. After we were all finished eating, Mandy and my father sat down at the couch, and talked about random things, while I took Jonothan on a tour of the house. My Dad probably didn't care weather or not we went on a tour, as long as he and Mandy got to be alone. "So this is the family room. It used to have a TV in it, but my Dad sold it for some reason. And this is the laundry room. I do all of the laundry around here, because Dad's too lazy to do his own", I said, as I went from the family room, to the laundry room. "And this is my room. The smallest room in the house, of course", I said, rolling my eyes. To my surprise, Jonothan sat down on my bed instantly. "Jonothan? What are you doing?", I asked. He rolled his own eyes. "You know, You don't have to call me Jonothan all the time. Just call me John", he said. He turned toward my picture of Mom next to my alarm clock. "Is that your mother?", he asked. I sighed. "Yeah. That's my Mom", I said. He smiled, sheepishly. "She looks exactly like you", he said, softly. I smiled. "Really? My Dad said she looked like me before, but I never believed him", I said. He laughed, and that made me happy for some reason. "Yeah, really. You two look like you could almost be twins", he said. He picked up the picture, and held it close to his heart. "You know, my Dad left us when I was 8. Ever since he left, my Mom's been really depressed. But when she started dating your Dad, she's cheered up a little. But me...Well, I'm different. I still miss him a lot. I mean, I sort of hate him for leaving us, but I still love him because he's my Dad", John said. I felt a tinge of sadness for John. Having one of your parents die is one thing, but for you father to completely leave you on purpose? I don't know what I would do if my parents did that to me. If they ever split up, or left one another. It might really suck. Almost as much as them dying would suck. It would make you feel stupid, or unwanted. "But you know what?", John said, interupting my thoughts. "I'm happy if my Mom's happy. That's really all that matters to me. So if she wants to get remarried...I fully support her", he said. At that moment, I realized something. I was being selfish. I'm sure my dad was hurting too back then. There's no way that he wouldn't have been sad when Mom died. So I realized that I had to stop being such a downer, and start thinking on the bright side. Because he just wanted things to be back to normal. He just wanted a little more love. John put the picture back where he found it. "You okay?", he asked. I blinked, and then sat down on the bed. "I'm fine. I was just thinking about stuff", I said. We sat there in silence for a few minutes. It was pretty awkword. "Which school do you go to?", I asked, after I couldn't take the silent pressure any longer. "I go to that middle school on the west side of town. Which one do you go to?", he asked. "I go to northdale middle school. It's only a few blocks away, so I ride my bike to school", I said. He layed back on my bed, and that made me a little uncomfortable. We were a boy, and a girl, alone in a bedroom together. Not to mention, we were also going to be brother and sister in a few months. That was as messed up as it gets. "Hey, you wanna ditch this place?", he asked me. "You mean sneak out?", I asked. "Yeah, sorta. We could go down to that gas station down the rode, and get some smoothies from the store there", he said. "Well...Okay. Fine", I said. So we left my bedroom, and snuck out the back door, after putting our shoes on. We walked down the rode together. By then, it was way past sunset, but the store was still open. When we got there, we went inside, and bought two strawberry smoothies. We ate them on the way home. "So when is the wedding again?", I asked John, after I slurrped my smoothie. "I don't really know. My Mom said it's supposed to be in tywo months from now", he said. We walked past an old lady carrying a bag oif groceries up to her front door. Surprisingly, John ran up to her. "Here, let me help you with these", I heard him say, as he took one of the bags from her. "Oh, thank you young man. Your a life saver", the old lady said, smiling sweetly. I didn't know if I should help too, or if I should just stand there. So I chose to stand there. After he was finished helping the old lady, he strolled back down the driveway towards me. "What was that all about?", I asked him, as he reached my side. "What? Haven't you ever heard of helping people out? It's the nice thing to do", he said. I shrugged my shoulders. "It's just that...I don't know...Isn't it kind of...Dangerous? I mean, who knows, that old lady could've been a pedophile, or something", I said, truthfully. "C'mon, Light. We're talking about a sweet old lady here. Not some creepy old man!", he said. I rolled my eyes. "Oh well. I guess I can't really tell you about all the sex affenders that live in our neighborhood then", I said. John ghasped. "What?! You mean that there are sexual predators here?! Why didn't you tell me?", he said. I burst out laughing. "I was just kidding, John. Geez!", I laughed. His face turned bright red. "Ha! And now your blushing!", I said. "Well, whatever. That joke wasn't even funny", he said, sulking like a baby. I smiled at him. "It's okay John. It was just a joke", I said. He smiled back. "I know", he said.
* * * When we got home, both of our smoothies were gone, and Mandy and Dad were still sitting on the couch, snuggling. I nearly gagged when I hear my Dad call Mandy "Pudding pop". It was disgusting. After a while, Mandy said, "It's getting pretty late. We should probably go, Roger". By the way, Roger is my Dad's name. "Oh...Okay. Whatever you say, pudding pop", he said. I gagged. "Light? Jonothan? Say goodbye to eachother. We're leaving", Mandy said. So John and I said goodbye, and he and Mandy left. It was just me and my father. "So, what did you and Jonothan do while we were upstairs? You were'nt messing around, were you?", my Dad joked. I rolled my eyes. "We were just talking", I said. © 2010 Kia-chan!Author's Note
