Chapter twentyA Chapter by Kia-chan!Hmmm...That night, I slept on the couch in Sophie's family room. Me and Sophie had explained to her parents about my situation, and they agreed to let me stay. But only for a week; then I was on my own. But on that first night that I was there, I could'nt sleep very well. I had this bad feeling that something was going to happen. And even when I was finally able to drift off to sleep, I had the dream. I did'nt remember much of it the next day, but it was definetly the scariest dream I ever had. Iremembered running with all my might to an unknown destination. I also remembered the blood. It was everywhere. On the sidewalk, on the street. It all seemed so real. Too real. and then I wolk up. It was about 5:00 in the morning when I wolk up from it. I was swetting terribly; it felt like I was on fire, it was so hot. I could'nt go to sleep after that, so I just laid there until morning.
that morning, Sophie got up, and we went upstairs to breakfest. I heard shouting coming from her parents bedroom, and I figured they were fighting again. But why so early in the morning? I thought. As we ate the cerial (which was Cinnemon Toast Crunch: Sophie's favorite), Blake suddenly walked in. He wore worn out pajama pants, and a Holister T-shirt. His hair was messed up, and he looked super tired (but at the same time, very cute). Sophie did'nt seem to notice he was there, because she was pigging out on her favorite cerial the whole time. "Hey Alex! Hey Sophie", he said, sitting down in the chair next to me. For some reason, this made me blush, and Blake seemed to notice! And the wierdest thing is that after he noticed I was blushing, he scooted his chair closer to mine! And that made me blush even more! So there I was, in between the boy I liked, and my best friend who just happend to be his sister. It was the most awkword situation ever! We just sat there for about a minute or two, experiencing an awkword silence. Untilfinally, I just could'nt take it anymore. "I have to use the bathroom" , I said, and I sprang up and half leaped, half sprinted to the bathroom. Once I got there, I stood in front of the mirror. but all I saw was a happless, whiny, sad, restless, confused, unsympothetic teenage girl standing there. I was kind of--what's the word?--desperate to be loved. And I was still to ashamed to admit that.
The next day, me and Sophie went for a walk. We did'nt have a destination, but we still wanted to got, to get some fresh air. As we walked past my apartment, I suddenly remembered the fight I had had with mom. I stared up to the second floor, searching for the apartment we shared. But I could'nt find it, since all the windows looked the same. When I finally looked away from the apartment , Sophie said, "Come on Alex! Follow me!" and she ran over to the deserted alley next to the apartment building. I followed her, and when she reached it, she turned to me and said, "I thought I saw something over here, but I guess I was wrong". As she turned to leave, I heard a familiar voice comeing from behind us, deeper into the alley. It was Jesse. And this time, she was'nt alone. © 2010 Kia-chan!Author's Note
