Chapter Nineteen

Hmmmm....

      I was still running down the street, when I heard a familiar voice coming from behind me. "Well if it is'nt Alex Soyer", it was Jesse. "Crap", I thought, " What the hell does she want?".  I turned around, eyeing her suspicously. "What do you want?" I asked. "Well, I just thought I should warn you about somethin' , Soyer. That's all".

Something about the way she said it, made my blood run cold. I had'nt seen her in weeks, and she was just coming to me now? She was really annoying me.

"Warn me? About what?" I asked. She just stared at me, with those cold slits she called eyes. "Don't play dumb with me, Soyer. I know what your up to. The whole gang knows!" She said that with the smirk gong from her face. "Your planning on leaving the gang, arent you?" She said. "Well, are you or arent you Soyer? Hhmmm?"

She glared at me with her cold eyes. "Well, we sure as hell won't let you leave without a fight. So you'd better watch out Soyer", She said that, and then started to turn around and leave, but then, she stopped. "Oh, and one last thing Soyer", she began," The next time you see your little friend-- What's her name?--Sophie? , tell her that me and the gang said hi". She snickerd, then she walked back down the street, back to where she came from.

 

         When I reached Sophie's house, I stopped at the door and rang the door bell. I was still panting by the time someone answered the door. "Alex? What're you  doing here?". It was Blake. He was wearing jeans shorts, sneekers, and a white T-s**t.

I waited for a second, to gather myself, then I said, "I-Is Sophie here?". "Yeah, she's downstairs in her room", he said. "Thanks!" I said, then I pushed past him and ran down stairs to Sophie's room. I opend the door, to find Sophie laying in her bed, with a wash rag on her forehead. She looked even worse then she did the last time.

"S-Sophie?" I began, "D-Do you mind if I stay here tonight? I-I ran away from home and I...I've got nowhere else to stay". She sat up, and her blue eyes seemed to sparkle. "Of course you can stay here alex! What happend? Why did you run away?",

she asked. I told her everything, about how mom had promised me she'd change, and about the cigarette, and about Jesse. She really seemed to understand, and she did'nt interupt me once.
