Just a Clown 4/1/08A Poem by James StarnesFrom a single fathers veiwNo matter what we do or say, You always push us away. While our children cry at night, You laugh then up and take flight. All the pain that you had to cause, In your heart you never take pause. When broken hearts bleed you attack, Just to make up for what you lack. We didn’t leave you, you left us, So come on, what’s the big fuss? Yet you still have to come around, Your joy is to bring us all down. Oh what fun game’s that you play, We didn’t shove but asked you to stay. Alas you left us on another whim, Now aren’t you a bright gem? No song to sing and no dance, As you skip joyfully and prance. Why do you even bother anymore, Is your life so hopeless such a bore? Why do you always have to bring us down, You’re not much of a mother, just a clown... (But not so funny, is it?)
