Truth Within Your Eyes

Truth Within Your Eyes

A Poem by Thomas Snider
"

A poem about Self-Denial/Deceit. I think this might have been one of my earliest submitted writes from before. Enjoy. =D

"

Do you see the truth in your own eyes?
The truth that you try to hide away
Hide away with all your masks
Hide away with all your lies.

You look into your mirror in the morning,
But do you see yourself?
Or do you see the mask you’ve made
The one you take down everyday
Down from the top of the shelf.

You hide yourself, but you don’t know why;
Then you wonder what is happening
When you come home into your room
In the corner you hide and cry.

The truth you’ll find inside your eyes
The truth that you find you cannot stand
The truth that you truly despise.

So put the mask upon the shelf
Set down the lies you’ve crafted
Not just for those around you
But the ones even for yourself.

Then into your eyes you shall peer
To find the truth about you
The one you did not at first accept
Then this truth you’ll never again fear.
