The Things We Hide

The Things We Hide

A Poem by Thomas Snider
"

To me, I feel the eyes hold the truth about the soul. This is kind of a response to that.

"

You smile at me,
I smile back to you.
The things we hide,
Placed at the back of our eyes.
Drunken with our lies,
We hide the pain,
We hide the pain in the back of our eyes.
So I look to you,
You look to me,
Into our eyes we both look in hopes to find,
Hope to find the things we hide.
The things we hide behind our eyes.

How many things that I do find.
Hiding behind those eyes.
I see the pain that runs through you,
The hatred and the lies.
So many things I’ve found you hide,
The things you hide behind your eyes.

You smile at me,
I smile back at you,
The things we hide,
Placed at the back of our eyes.
