Four lane street,
Touching the pavement with the soles of my shoes.
Looking around, the cold kissing my lips.
Silence, embracing my ears.
I stood, alone in this empty four lane street.
Nothing around, but the sound of nothingness.
I am alone.
Just me,
Cold,
Silence,
And a four lane street.
The day is gone, and it is nothing but the night.
Stars blanket the sky catching the two brown eyes
That stare up while putting hands into the navy blazer.
Dressed for formal,
Yet merely alone.
Just me,
Cold,
Silence,
And a four lane street.
In my mind, I can see the truth of it all.
The truly alone,
The reality of the silence and cold leaving.
Wanting to go to the car,
Soaking in the solitude,
Regretting the loss of the silence and the cold.
Just me,
And a four lane street.
So time goes by.
Staring at the stars,
Touching the pavement with the soles of my shoes.
Soon wanting to feel whole again.
Leaving for the comfort of home.
Just me,
A car,
And a four lane street.
The lights go by,
Through the crumbling of the world around,
I see the end of it all.
Touching the pavement with the sides of my shoes,
Feeling the warmth of myself below,
Warmth kissing my split lips,
The sound of people shuffling around to see embracing my ears.
Betrayed by the four lane street.
Loneliness paid with loneliness,
The other guy staggering away,
Just me,
And a four lane street.
Cries around me,
Tears kissing my lips,
Sobs embracing my ears.
Closed eyes staring into the sky,
Hands placed upon a navy blue blazer,
Dressed for formal.
Surrounded by family.
Lowered slowly,
Lonely again.
So it became again,
Just me.
