For You

For You

A Poem by Thomas Snider
"

To Nicole...

"

Should I pull one thousand stars from the night sky,
I’d place them in a small box for you.
With the moon they’d sit, hoping for you,
Waiting for you;
Open it my love,
For you they are placed within.

The sun in the sky, I’ve placed a lasso around it before.
Before I’ve had not the strength or will,
To pull it from the heavens.
For you I’d haul it from the blue ocean above,
With one hand,
For you,
Take it my love,
For you it lights the day.

Trees I’ve planted, sweat and dirt poured into hundreds.
Love from me I’ve placed in each root,
Love for you I’ve whisper kissed in each leaf.
For you,
Rest my love,
For you they comfort you in slumber.

Glaciers I’ve heated with breath in which you‘ve taken.
Oceans roll now, clashing with it’s boundaries.
Untamed yet still pure,
Flowing with life within;
For you,
Look into it my love,
For you it portraits true beauty.

A grain of sand turned granite mountains,
Pulled from the depths of clay;
I’ve pulled them high above it all;
For you,
Stand upon them with me my love,
For you they are the top of the world.

Had I not your love,
These things would be impossible.
But when the day is done,
These arms are open;
For you,
Let me hold you in them.
For you my heart is made to warm.
