The SurvivorA Poem by Sumit GangulyOld hawk swoops down on a tree, waits for a drama to enact soon.
First sun makes a wake-up call, small insects flock in green field, they dance and sing and have breakfasts. Tiger-bug is hungry too. He arrives, gets food, plays with preys. Sun brings heat as rush goes on.
Toad is on his morning walk, saw the bug and sucked him in, he could not finish the regular round. A passing snake is quick to act. Bulky toad now rests in him, lo, the snake moves like a snail.
A flying kite has found its prey dives down at lightning speed. The snake is dangling in its claws. Some crows chase the intruder.
The hawk now raises both the eyes. © 2016 Sumit Ganguly |
