Witch's Brew

Witch's Brew

A Poem by Honeypot
"

A Halloween Poem

"

I concocted up a love potion -
a simple one for you.
I threw in thyme, a little sage,
and something sticky and blue.

Heated over a willow fire,
it began to simmer and foam.
Lightning flashed outside the door.
The room was dreary and gloam.

From the wicked smell it seemed to me,
the tonic was nearly done.
Giggling, I poured it in the jar.
Soon, I’d have you on the run.

I put a ribbon around the lid
and packed it in a pretty bag.
One sip was all that it would take
to make you love this ugly hag.

But when I knocked on the front door
the giggling from within
told me Mildred, from down the road,
had beat me there again.

Nicely done. What a special time of year; one of the best holidays! And for such special reasons!!!

I liked the rhyme and the flow, good job. "Heated over a willow fire,it began to simmer and foam" was my favorite line, and that really gets strong images going for me.

I guess you should have just went back to the cauldron, cranked out a double batch, headed back over there, and slipped them both a mickey. Kind of see what happens next! Now that would be an interesting Halloween poem! Yeow! Talk about your witches sticking together! :) Ha, just kidding.

Good job lady.

If I were her, I'd brew a paralysis potion for that Mildred.

A delightful Halloween poem, Honey! A pleasant and festive read.

I llove this witty lament to losing at love even when you have the guaranteed potion in the bag. A wonderful smile bringing writing. Your rythmn and rhyme in this are great!

This was a wonderful bt of light relief! I so enjoyed it - and the use of rhyme was just right to achieve the comic effect. There was even a little bit of pity in my final response as I grinned with delight!

This was very cute. Nicely written. You could always turn
Mildred into a toad. :-)
