Calypso

Calypso

A Poem by Honeypot
"

Just for fun

"

The strawberry sky turns to plum
While Calypso music’s steel drum
Caresses the frenzy filled crowd
Gyrating happily and proud

Electric rhythms fill the air
As summer breezes blow her hair
Ebony locks kiss her shoulder
Brown eyes smile, sinfully smolder

Strident hips tempt a frantic beat
Long limbs dance and sweat in the heat
Sitting on a flowered cushion
Children watch the show’s procession

What I like about this poem is its descriptions of minor eroticism, in the form of bodily movement--dancing, but at the same time, the audience caught by the performance are...children. Rather novel in approach. The descriptions truly are magical like Calypso's rhythms.

I enjoyed it Honey!

This poem is like a dance! I like the flowing rhythm and rhyme. This reminds me of a celebratory beach party; celebrating.... whatever. Sounds like a party. I want to be there with a Mai Tai in hand, you in the other, and after the music fades, and the kids go to the cushion of their beds, to walk with you in the sand, while the waves caress our toes, and the moonlight and gentle breezes fill our senses, well that would be blissful.
Let's go!
Good job!

This is delightfully sensual and playful, one can hear the drumbeat ... can see "The strawberry sky turns to plum" and I felt my own hips called to action. All this through the eyes of children ... the magical enchantment of the night. This is truly a delight!

Calypso is so brilliant, as is your reflection here. Bright, bold beats, and your words dance that cool rhythm. Loved it!
