A Poem by H.B

What were we like you ask,
Before the need for jetpacks and this mask.
We were smart, intelligent and aware
We were informed, warned and yet without a care
We persisted in our ways not out of ignorance or fear
It is due to our greed that the waters are no longer clear.
By turning a blind eye for our own benfit
We condemned the future of those we love beyond limit.
When did we realise what we'd done?
I'm not sure we ever did son.
