Pain

Pain

A Poem by Honey54
"

I just read a poem called "To my dead father" and it inspired me to write this poem about my own experience of rape.

"
Blaming this bottle for the battle I did not win/
Praying the next sip will help me forget the regret within/
My mind flood with destruction because, I can no longer pretend/
Hoping that night doesn’t happen again./

Lost in your lust, no concern for my blessing/
Your drunk lips touch my nervous body as you start undressing/

Forced not willed/
And still…..

I feel the blame/
I feel the shame/
And nothing is gained but this brutal pain./

I have been in this exact place a few times in my life but I'm glad I pulled through and got passed and found happier days. I think you said it the best "Blaming this bottle for the battle I did not win/
Praying the next sip will help me forget the regret within/." I love these lines because I know so many people that go through feelings like this on a regular basis. Thanks for sharing and thanks for the great read!

This is never the fault of the victim. We live in a world where some would brainwash a woman with shame and guilt to keep them from fighting back. It takes a tremendous amount of strength to share such an experience and that strength will inspire others to change this world.

You're such a strong-willed person for sharing something so close to you and your physical and emotional pain with so many people. That takes so much courage, but just know you shouldn't feel guilty or ashamed whatsoever. There is no way at all that was your fault. The writing itself is written quite well, and the rhyme scheme is great. Sometimes the only way to let go of pain is to write it down, and even sometimes share it with someone. God bless you for sharing your story.

You KNOW it's not your fault and yet the shame and guilt don't wash or go away... and if it's family you lose that one base of strength... and if it's not family but someone that could have been - should have been close or even more - you lose all the good dreams and wishes. And if its just random hell - you lost your self... rape even takes the hugs away - after...and thats beyond merely wrong.
