Stroll of Grandeur

Stroll of Grandeur

A Poem by Homeschool
"

Sometimes life needs to be seen from a different and open-minded perspective. The themes range from the comforts of the home to the ways in which we can see ourselves as extraordinary.

"

Stroll of Grandeur

Two friends walk side by side,

Back to a bustling house with brightly lit windows,

Beacons of compassion and warmth

Gleaming, streaming, cutting

To pieces

A night otherwise cold.

The lights repel the evil, the uncertainties of the dark,

The entities that creep and swim, churn and wallow

Just along the path the courageous brothers follow.

An owl to the prey, the strikes are amiss.

Dodge the nocturnal creature’s decisive and quick fists.

The port-holes of the sanctuary,

Golden light sabers that seem to hum

With perfect frequency,

To break apart the shadow,

Jack-hammer to stone,

A vibrating pulse to pound

Steel through rock,

Puncturing dark and glistening coals

From the lines of carbon graves below.

Loosen the foundations

Of unyielding prison castles,

Where light is forbidden

And the halls  are over-ridden

With the sickening silence of the repressed,

Seems an evening’s ghosts have yet to confess.

Tungsten, blinding bulbs

Edison’s vision emerged,

Lighthouses at the port of their home,

Over sentries on the walls of their stronghold,

The two comrades will stride to safety as for told,

Victorious over the dark.
