My Canadian Girl
A Poem by
Homason
Dreaming
My Canadian Girl
Just one look in the mirror
And I know I don't look the same anymore
Your laughter brought sunshine
Everyday was like spring time
Feeling empty without you on my arms
Distance has stolen the charms
I don't know how I made it before
Plus how we walked on the streets of the future
Everyday with you was the reality of the big picture
Now, staying apart is like living in hell
Watching the memories of our love fade away in my eyes
If only I could hold them forever
If I could break the distance
You'll still be here inside my head
Oh, if I can hold you for just a minute
But you're no more
I wish I told you the right words
I'm just gonna smile
And tell the whole world i'm fine
But it was all a dream.
Homason.

that moment, after much fun, you wake and realize it has been just a dream. Which lines seem familiar to you?

Nicely written. It reminded me of a story I've read somewhere, which got the same feeling into me. The only difference is that you made me feel what the story did in a write way smaller than it!! It's really good. The last stanza is my favorite! Keep writing!!

I love dream poems. What are they - perhaps tapping into a previous life's memories or a future one's.
My dog dreams - the legs moving in sequence as he sleeps.
One thing for real is just how real they can seem.
Nice one Homason.

Homason I can relate going back as far as 1972 to Jane. The universality of loss lives in us all.

Thanks Paul, Jacob and "The Outcast" for your time and passionate reviews. Sometimes, the alarm could be annoying at such moments.

They say when you drown, you relive the good times. Though i've always found, just when the good time is about to happen, the alarm clock goes off.

yes, this is familiar.....was it really real? we sometimes hold on to a memory so hard...we become delusional with it...and even if it isn't real...the thought it might have been feels kind of good.
