Two For Joy.A Poem by Holly Von DarlingWritten January 6th 2009.
Every seric, selfless strand and sensuous cell of skin. I Love and Love. And Love.
You are my greatest impulse and the prolonged lazy hours I savour escaping the endless toils of the working week. You are the sweet, lingering taste given to me by the very air I breathe in your presence. And just for once it may not be my extraordinary capacity for Love and such other things. But just maybe it is because you are yourself, every endearing mannerism and captivating tale, every divine sigh and subtle parting of your lips and elated words I longed to hear before I ever knew you. Laying blissfully, my head buried in your protective chest, listening intently, heartbeat for heartbeat I begin to understand more and more. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. To inhale is ecstasy in its purest form, to exhale is to know the very extent to which I am alive and the lifesworth I owe you without ever really owing you anything at all. Skin for skin you have every inch of me. Prolonging responsibility and life and sobriety we live by the taste of wine and cigarettes on one another's lips and we swear by the very infinite value of our intricate embraces. And if being with you isn't being alive then I don't want to be alive; I merely wish to continue drifting in the drousy manner of the daydream that is you and I. I Love your every eyelash. I Love your every fingertip. I can still hear the atmosphere of the night we first met, roaring in my ears. I still remember the way my shoes felt and how the extortionate alcohol tasted. Every beautiful, beloved breath and whimsical wash of words. I Love and Love. And Love. © 2011 Holly Von Darling |
