Beatrice

Beatrice

A Poem by Holly
"

Beatrice the shadow girl

"

No darker place, no quieter place no place so

deathly still

Beatrice walked slowly down the path starting

to feel the chill

A chill so cold- a chill so old it stilled her tongue and burnt her skin

The only sounds she heard were silent tales of lies and whispered sin

She saw a church and hurried over, searching for her twin

As she entered slowly through that large opressing door

She could not quell the feeling that she had been there before

She crept down the aisle looking for the little boy

And she noticed that her footsteps weren't making any noise

She somehow knew as she stopped still she didn't have a twin

The shadows playing a cruel game she couldn't hope to win

She recalled as she stood there rooted. sick with fear

In the silent darkness with the shadows- She belonged here

The shadow people called to her from deep within the catacombs

They came shouting silently, up the long staircase from their tombs

They appeared strange and silent, cold but never dead

They clawed out at her dress her feet, talking inside her head

A life time spent in darkness where theres never any sound

Eternity in shadows hiding far beneath the ground

She had once escaped but found the shadows called for her

She closed her eyes and savoured her last breath of the fresh air

She looked up at the cross and prayed nothing too awful waited

down there

She found herself looking at the shadows nearby

Strange memories flitted through her head and clouded her bright eyes

She screamed as the deafening sillence pounded at her head

And knew she made no sound as she fell, quiet and cold but never dead

An endless darkness trapped between the twi light and the ether

No longer singing silent songs of being trapped forever

Only finding silence deep enough to fear, despise- detest

Theres only silence waiting there inside the dark for Beatrice

Author's Note

Holly
It may not rhyme or be as simplistic as my other poems, but it was based on a nightmare I had and this is just how it turned out.
