AnnieA Poem by Holly Little Annie loved the park She'd often wander after dark Through the thick cold London smog Barely seeing through the fog. In a sack she dragged a rat Mauled to death by next doors cat On she dragged the little sack Looking for things to take back She was not a normal child And when told off she simply smiled And went up to her room to play With the dead things she'd found that day. Her parents brought her normal toys And begged she played with girls and boys She drove them crazy, round the bend When she explained they were her friends She didn't mind they were all stiff She didn't even mind the niff Although they couldn't move or walk She'd very often hear them talk. Grown up Georgie loved the park He'd often wander after dark He saw poor Annie all alone And decided he'd take her home He placed Annie in her seat His tea party now complete Her skin was cold, she couldn't see The other friends there for their tea His friends sat at his table Three girls and four boys He emptied Annie's little sack Appalled by her strange toys. He didn't mind they were all stiff He didn't even mind the niff Although they couldn't move or walk He'd very often hear them talk © 2010 HollyReviews
