The Other Day

The Other Day

A Poem by Ellie
"

When you see someone for the first time in a long time.

"

The Other Day:

I saw you the other day

Or at least maybe I thought I did

Maybe I just pictured you

Leaning against your door frame

With an earnest intent look

Who knows what you were thinking

I know you saw me though

After months of hiding

Here I am

I have pictured this moment

In my head

A million times more

When we walk up to each other

Memorizing this script

Wanting to either yell at you

Or tell you I am utterly

And completely in love

Wanting to run up and kiss you

Or solemnly walk up

And admit my defeat

Either way I am going

To tell you I am so sorry

Nothing I can do

Will ever take back that one night

We spent together

The one I forced upon you

That you did enjoy

But immediately regretted after

I saw you the other day

And wanted to scream

I saw you the other day

And wanted to kiss you

I saw you the other day

And wanted to vomit

I saw you the other day

And fell in love all over again

But I couldn’t speak

It’s like my lips were

Forbidding me to open

So I’ll save my speech

Until the next time I see you

Maybe then I will be ready

Your words and their flow fill a listener with a reality many share... and it IS a hard reality to be sure ...and a lonely one to deal with as one must.

I don't KNOW the level of review, critique, or commenting you seek... but you ARE being heard.
