Contradictory

Contradictory

A Poem by Hojang Wright

Crystal clear, enveloped in smog

I feel an anchor, weightless, pulling me down,

As I rise up and to fall down,

I am aware, yet blind,

I can start to feel, yet rescind to numbness.

I am awake, yet asleep.

For this is the valley in between,

The impending darkness starts to arise,

Offering a friendly gesture, for just a moment’s notice

In smog, it goes crystal clear

The anchor, now weighted, starts to pull me up

I have been blind, yet aware

I am numb, yet can feel

I should have been asleep, but now I set foot on wake

For I am on polar opposites, and the darkness starts to fade

Knowing the fear had been there, the whole time
