DifficultiesA Poem by Michael HofA good question
Why is it so difficult
to recognize the good? If it were placed right in front of you on a silver platter At a dining room table Built on happiness And good intentions You wouldn't know what to call it Sood? Dood? Tood? This can't be good Not for me No way Must be bad Must be sad Don't be cruel Pushing all this bad in my face wrapped in fake good You should be ashamed Enraged Tossing the platter across the room Shouting This is not good how dare you Successfully turning good Into bad We're all good at that Freakish experts It's not good's fault No it's us We can't handle seeing it straight on Like the sun Through this lens that we see good It looks like crap It worsens our mood In another circumstance Another person Perhaps an African child Without a shirt Would look upon this good Eyes watering Beginning to cry He'd look up to the sky And thank God Or whatever he prays to But not you Oh no You scoff And b*tch And complain While the child Is out in the rain Praying for half the good You had on the plate That you just threw away Why is it so difficult? © 2013 Michael HofReviews
