Shining Armor

Shining Armor

A Poem by Michael Hof
"

meanderings

"
It's four
In the morn
The people adorn
Themselves in slumbering paradise

While I
The Grinch the Scrooge
Sits and waits

Daybreak my goal
I won't bust
Won't fold

Quench the darkness
The sun a bottle of oj
To destroy the thirst
Overpowering the night

And I lead on in my fight
A crusader
A knight

To see the break of dawn

Compatriots and compadres
Lay in bed
They dream

Lost the battle to sleep
Poor b******s
Head to pillow

Crushing the wakefulness
And ripping the bushy tail right from their backs
Never stood a chance

And I alone battle
Not a comrade in sight
Except a pup
Too forlorn from this fight

To see the light of day
What a tremendous pleasure
When the sun doth render
The beautiful sight
Of days triumph over night

And I alone will see it
Me
A knight in shining armor
Upon a plastic steed
