Raincoat

Raincoat

A Poem by Michael Hof
"

a portrait of an emotion

"
Sadness portrayed
As a man in a raincoat

Try as he might
It's made way too tight

The buttons won't clasp
His voice is beginning to rasp

In the downpour
This shower

Unyielding
In its power

It's getting dark
The realization stark

Looking around
Not a soul to be found

f*ck the rain
He says again

Today
For the hundredth time

As his woman left
And his job bereft

He looks at the coat and
Try as he might
It's made way too tight
He continues to mope

Sadness portrayed
As a rainy day
