Clown

Clown

A Poem by Michael Hof
"

comedy?

"
For a joke I'll die
For a laugh I'll cry
A clown am I

I juggle
I dabble
Between a Laugh
Among the rabble

In the crowd
Search me out
I'm the one towards the back
Holding a beer
Looking fat

Telling jokes
It's what I do
Sit and listen
Feeling blue?

Not anymore
Thanks clown
Not a gracious word
Is heard

I'll be here though
Stop on by
Come and listen to my
Comedy

I like the way this is written, a quirky rhythm in each stanza. The theme of a clown is interesting, as to me, it's kind of a mask that I sometimes wear regardless of what's going on inside of me. I like how you explore the hidden meanings with irony in :

"In the crowd
Search me out
I'm the one towards the back
Holding a beer
Looking fat"

This is a sad reality for so very many people. Like what you did here. Welcome to writerscafe too :)
