Cold to the bone

Cold to the bone

A Poem by Michael Hof
"

drinking alone

"
Drinking alone
Cold to the bone

Sitting here
With a near
empty beer

Listening to the breeze
It's speaks to me
With ease

Carrying a story
It tells me
Only

For I am
Alone
Not a creature would
Roam

Into my visual
Turn it to stone
Maybe

Is that what they fear
When they hear
I'm coming

An immobilization
As my gaze turns
Impossible

I say
They cower
Anyway

Am I?
This mythic beast
That my aura
Seems to preach

Or perhaps
I prefer it
A perverted hermit
Surely I can't deserve it

But I'm here
Drinking alone
And cold to the bone

Complex emotions in poem like loneliness, isolation and feeling misunderstood. The repetitive elements and natural rhyme scheme make it pleasant to read aloud. Nice work developing a compelling poetic voice and perspective.

A lonely image.....

Enjoyed the emptiness...well done.
