An Ode to Irony

An Ode to Irony

A Poem by Hirannya
"

Just a tribute to the cruelest figure of speech.

"
From between the ruins rose she,
Brave and strong and proud of herself;
Thousands hailed her name
'Revolution', they called her.
Walked miles and sacrificed lives
Only to witness her rise.

In all of her glory, no one ever thought
That she's the one who'd be tormented so,
Clothes torn and blood spilled-
Thrown on the streets to be killed.
Molested and tortured on one hand,
Praised and adored on another.

And as famed deemed her demise
History repeated herself,
Amidst all of this,
Hypocrisy took a bow,
And irony smiled from behind the stage.

This. Is. Awesome.
One of the best poems I've read in a long time.

Thumbs up.
