City LightsA Poem by Lily VictoriaOctober 15, 2013
Driving through the dark,
Is illuminated by these city lights. This place so far away, Is my home away home. Crazy traffic and pick up signs, Gain my unwanted attention. Constant blue skies and the pacific coastline, Is my newly discovered intervention. Platinum blonde hair. Salt in the air. Tan by the layer. This is Los Angeles. Welcome to the City of Angels. A Place of new tears and mangles. Diversity covers the streets more than the pavement we walk on. Mansions on every corner of every boulevard. Materialistic things scatter the surface of the city. But the focus is feeling. A distant longing to live this vacation, Instead of a tradition always done. The comfort felt in some of the deepest places, Is sometimes unfounded by locals. Unlike us outsiders, Such as myself, I long to see palm trees that sway in the yearlong summer breeze. Wake up with the sweet sight and Smell of the ocean's ease. My love will crash with your waves. I was born here, And this is where I belong. I'm a true blood California Girl. And that's who I wish to stay. © 2014 Lily VictoriaReviews
