InsomniacA Poem by Lily VictoriaNovember 27, 2013
Darkness becomes bitter light,
As the night starts to fade. Rest is chained to stay awake, And slapped in its face over and Over again. Until it feels no pain. Everything numbs to the core; Down to the bone. Feeling loses consciousness, While its eyes remain wide open. The breathing continues in rhythm, With a sudden heartbeat, And doesn't want to stop. Or will it? The night was an eternal resting place, But now it's just an empty space. Floating around an unplanned agenda, Like an old homework assignment. Hope was found in the light, But now it exists in the midst of the night. With the reverse time of time, And images that shuffle through the mind, How can sleep be found? Either way, The left or right, Will eventually lead to the same reward. But is it really a reward? Lying here restless inside and out of my mind, Only leads to unconsciousness when the next day comes. An insomniac lives in the deepness, Of every subject known to man. So when all else is silent, My inner being awakens, And releases sirens. With noises louder that the quiet darkness. With so much more to do, Lying still on a low bed, My mind finally dies. A long lost treasure, Has finally been found. © 2013 Lily VictoriaReviews
