First DanceA Poem by Lily VictoriaAugust 19, 2013The evening descends its light into your eyes, Into the contours of your face. Standing across the room, I Watch the very first dance of star crossed lovers on their wedding day. Full of love and excitement, There's nothing else in need of my attention. But as my eyes become weary of the same beautiful sight, They begin to scan the room. Many conversations go on, but one begins to interest me. Two people across the room seem as if they're talking about me. I begin to contemplate in my head. "Wait... Are they looking at me? What's he whispering to him about? No.. That's not possible.. Why would he take interest in me? A girl who would space out and not give attention because of good intention...? No that's not possible... Is it?" As the dance ends, My sister walks suspiciously up to me. The face she has and shape of her mouth explain something mysterious And exciting, but most of all devious. "Hey!" She pulls me down to whisper in my ear. "You know he's been staring at you for 5 whole minutes.." These words put me into silence. Only for a moment though.. Then words spray out of my mouth. "Really?!! Are you sure?!" The surprise in my face displays the face of a child experiencing candy for the first time. Pure excitement. Although after that split second of pure excitement, Respect and maturity kick into overdrive. Obsession isn't an option. It never will be. As my eyes wander back to the dance floor, My focus returns and I enter the whole scene again. © 2013 Lily VictoriaReviews
