Ive got Worms!!

Ive got Worms!!

A Story by Scott Hinchly
"

Even though most people think worms are disgusting, to a child they are a mysterious and elusive creature.

"

Worms are slimy, worms are cold, worms are squishy and hard to hold.

You find them in the garden bed or the compost heap behind the shed.

They help to make the garden grow and are a tasty treat for Mr Crow.

But if you catch one just beware that he doesn’t squirm into your hair.

Don’t drop him in between your toes or let him wiggle up your nose.

Just pick him up and hold him tight and watch him squirm with all his might.

They don’t have legs to walk around and live in darkness underground.

They don’t have eyes with which to see and both ends look the same to me.

So what do worms do when they meet? How do they know which end to greet?

Maybe that’s why they wriggle around, way down there beneath the ground.

As worms are pretty shy you see, they don’t have friends like you and me.

But sometimes when the moon is low the worms come up from down below.

To play and mingle on the lawn, late at night when the sun is gone.

A worm can give you quite a fright if you tread on one in the dead of night.

So if you wake up from a snooze and leave the house without your shoe’s.

Watch out where you put your feet, just in case a worm you meet.
