Sleep For Your Dream

Sleep For Your Dream

A Poem by Life Inside Death

People are so cruel

They make you feel like crap

They tell you that they love you

And then they take it back

I’ve known so many

Who take their pain away

Suicidal tendencies

They bleed for one more day

Dirt poor and no one to hold

You say you’ve had enough

Your parents won’t support your dreams

The times today are rough

I write for these kids

Who don’t have a thing

Hanging onto a dream

And a wish that they’ll be free

A simple “Hello” just to make them smile

And a hug for those whose mother

Hasn’t been there in a while

I write for anyone

Who’s ever died a thousand times

Who lays in the floor at night

Wishing they’d never been born

Keep holding on to that dream

Fall asleep

Nothing matters at all

We’re all here for a reason

Keep searching for yours

This life is never over.

I like this poem although its rather sad, the lines:

"They tell you that they love you

And then they take it back "

are very poignant for me. There is a definite sense of time within the poem, especially at the end with "This life is never over", I'm not sure whether to take that literally or as a metaphor for the feelings of depression you describe. Sometimes a little ambiguity goes a long way.
