Only but 8A Poem by Jen RoA bouncy girl only but 8, Playing pretend with her Barbies, And bouncing to a beat. Smiling, giggling. An ordinary day for a girl only but 8. Shadows of the night had fallen, the girl only but 8 snuggled into her bunny rabbit pink jammies. She held her love-worm teddy bear tight, When he appeared, a monster with cold fingers - that trembled on her lips. He whispered "hush", into her delicate ear. The girl only but 8 choked with fear -as the monster slid his sinful claws, under her bunny rabbit pink jammies She clutched her love-worn teddy tight, and closed her eyes with all her might. As the monster stole away with her innocence. The girl of 8 was now a scared lost soul -she did not want to play -she did not want to bounce The girl of 8 only wanted to shout. Yell out into the darkness, Cry out into the night. Clutching her love-worn teddy bear, all the way into into the depths of her personal hell.
