Maiden

Maiden

A Story by Jen Ro

A young maiden stared deeply into the crashing waves of a vast ocean. The maiden's long raven locks and fancy black dress danced in the wind. She slowly closed her deep brown eyes, tears soon fell against her silky and  flushed cheeks. The maiden's mind was filled with the darkest of thoughts, she felt so very lonely. The maiden held her necklace tightly in her hand. "Why, just why, did you lay this necklace upon my neck, and make those promises of returning to me one day." she shouted out, as more tears flowed across her cheeks. The maiden's love had left one year ago to do a job at sea. Her love had promised to come back to her in a few months. The maiden had lost all hope of her love ever returning. She fell to her knees, her emotions flowed all over the white sandy beach. The sun began to set, the maiden laid sprawled out across the beach, her long locks surrounding her curvy frame. A sweet singing voice began to fill the maidens ears. She quickly opened her eyes and began to look around. The sweet singing voice was the voice of her long departed lover. "Is that you my love,  have you finally come back to me?" She stood up and walked towards the shore, scanning every inch of the ocean as far as she could see. Suddenly, a shadow appeared from the depths of the ocean. The Maiden began moving back, as she placed her hand over her mouth. The shadow inched closer and closer to the shoreline. The maiden closed her eyes, she felt like she was stuck in a dream. The shadow took its true form. It was a woman; she had wavy blond locks, icy blue eyes, and her body was covered by a long purple dress.  The mysterious woman placed her hand upon the maidens shoulder. The maiden slowly opened her eyes, she felt her heart drop, tears rushed down her face. "Is it really you, is this a dream?" she said in a stutter. The maiden's lover placed her hand upon her face and smiled brightly. "Yes, my beautiful queen, it is me, I promised I would return to you, no matter what." The maiden wrapped her arms tightly around her lover's waist. "I've missed you so much, I thought you had left me forever, I was all alone for all this time." The lover kissed the maiden deeply and looked deeply into her brown eyes. "When I left you those many months ago, I laid a key and locket upon your neck, the key to my heart, and a locket with the promise of my return." The lover placed the maidens hand upon her heart. " I keep my promises, I would never leave you forever alone, I will always find a way back to you if I get lost. " The maiden's cheeks were filled with specks of red, a permanent  smile  was etched across her lips. The lover got down on one knee and opened up a shell, within the shell laid a beautiful diamond ring. "I love you my queen, Will you marry me?" The maiden held her hand to her mouth as she slowly nodded her head. "Yes, my love, I will marry you. I love you so very much!" The lover placed the ring upon the maidens finger. She smiled wide,as tears swelled in her eyes. The women laid upon the sand and made love in the moon light. The maiden finally had her love, and the lover had been returned to her maiden. True soul mates, filled with complete and total bliss.
