Temptation

Temptation

A Poem by Jen Ro

Temptation is hiding all around
in the air, the trees, and most of all in the darkness.
Hidden beneath closed doors in the darkness of night,
is my temptation of crazed pain and fright.
With freighting eyes and zombie like movements
I take the knife, and my painful temptation takes control
They slash and crash filling the room with crimson regret
The crimson drops hit the floor like a crying child in anguish
It keeps throwing me about
Spilling out the secrets of the past
A past that I don't want to remember,
But the scars are telling a different story
The temptation has me on the ground
Crawling for my longing breath,
It doesn't want me to breathe.
It smothers me with my mistakes.
The memories of guilt are wide awake.

I am grasping for my life
But it is life that is the true killer
My temptation knows this,
and the crimson showers of temptation repeat over  again.
