CheckMate

CheckMate

A Poem by Jen Ro

There is a demon lingering above her bed.
Longing to take her life away,
Longing to watch her rot into nothing.
There is a demon lingering inside her head,
Whispering "you are already dead."
Stealing away with her most precious thoughts.
There is a demon lingering inside her body,
Sending jolts throughout her skin.
He is trying his damnedest to win.
There is a demon lingering inside her soul,
He is fighting his way to gain her life's control.
Consuming her entire being from deep within.
The demon thinks this is a game,
a game of chess.
He has the upper hand,
and is learning fast.
The girl is limp and lifeless
The demon is smiling,
and filled with sin.
He carves an X across her chest,
He yells out, "Checkmate"
As the girl cries out,"Stolen innocence"

This was a dark and intriguing write. You do a wonderful job combining horror and poetry. Always enjoy reading your work. :)

Great imagery - like the eternal battle - well done!
