Maze

Maze

A Poem by Jen Ro

"Maze"

Stuck  deep in darkness.
She doesn't know what to believe,
She doesn't  know how to breathe.
She only wants to bleed..
To let her  inner demons feed once again.

Chasing, chasing, chasing!
The past is chasing her through that dark Labyrinth.
It hurts, it hurts,it HURRTS!
Twisting limbs, breaking bones, lungs squeezed of air.
Please, please, she begs thee, to make all of the pain cease.
Halt the demons of the darkness drawn from deep within.

Tired of the cycle, tired of the chains.
Tired of the disguise, tired of all the stupid lies.
She is fragile, oh so very fragile.
Made of porcelain,made of glass.
She can shatter, She can Fall, She can lose it all.

Screaming, screaming, Screaming out
She wants the darkness to seep out,
Seep out of her translucent skin.
Shed the shell, Throw the mask,
Become who she truly  is.
Show the face of a lost soul,
who is ready to fly far  ahead.

Flying,flying, flying high
Spreading her tattered wings above,
Above those dark and matted  clouds.
Higher and higher she soars.
A cool breeze blows, a warmth of light hits.
A long sigh is released from her lungs.
A sigh of relief, the demons have been slayed,
New memories are steadily being  paved.
FREEDOM! FREEDOM!FREEDOM! she screams,
as her first smile in so many years stretches wide across her face.

Excellent rhythm - the beat forms naturally when you're reading it. This is one I would enjoy hearing out loud.

It would read well.
Very enchanting work.
While reading I felt the flow of water from a spring.
I could relate it with the music of Beethoven.
Congratulations,Hime_Chan!!!

You are very welcome,dear poet!
This is a wonderful piece, full of expression and longing. Although one could take this to a horror side (which normally I would), I actually saw that aspect as a metaphor, for an individual who had been trapped in a life turned bad. To escape, the first shaky steps, the future open wide..

Very nice work!
