River

River

A Poem by Hilary Adams

Wending wending wild bending

snaking shrinking all unending

crystal clear and ruddy russet

spring for ancient Massachusett

fast through glades and valleys gaping

for eons earth’s environs shaping

in summer’s warmth and winter’s shiver

evermore, the mighty river
