An Underrated Job

An Underrated Job

A Poem by Hilary Adams
"

"...the purpose of playing, whose end both at the first and now, was and is, to hold as 'twere, the mirror up to nature..."

"
Show me a well-trained
actor, and I'll show you the
whole breadth of mankind

Damn straight. Love it! (Though the feminist in me rebels at "mankind", even though I know it's a haiku and, you know, you gotta play by the rules.)

In the olden days of long ago it was said that a good bard could mesmorize and dazzle even the most stoic of darkened of thoughts, blossoming them into a grin or a smile. The role of the actor, refined and perfected, with voice inflected can be the most powerful of icons within the world of sentient man.

I felt that this piece, in it's refined way throws open the curtain of creation and makes us all remember just how entranced we could be, for that perfect performance can take a world of form, if performed just so.

Great Piece!
