The Light No Longer Lingers

The Light No Longer Lingers

A Poem by Mercy Fae
"

Since you've been away....

"
Your eyes aren't bright anymore,
But then again, I wouldn't know.
I haven't seen you since this picture was taken.

I can't stand to hear your podcast anymore.
Your voice is haunting,
makes me sob at the slightest word.
Even though I used to find joy in them.

You used to respect me,
But your leaving has destroyed me.

Your belief in me
shouldn't determine if I believe in myself.

Yes! "Your belief in me/shouldn't determine if I believe in myself." Absolutely lovely ending to a very nicely written poem. I can relate strongly with the poem. One of my worst fears is having people leave. It hurts more than words can describe, but some words can get very close. "You leaving has destroyed me." This is exactly how I feel far too often. Too often.. people leave without even a reason at times. You are led to believe they care only to have that belief torn right out from under your feet. Thank you for sharing, friend.
