Je décide de parler en français quand je suis déprimé

A poem about how the last few years 2012-now have been for me.

Freshman year.

Hit by a car while walking to school.

Depression began. 

Sophomore year..

Gained help in writing (and life) from a mentor.

Junior year...

Lost that mentor, began to isolate myself from others. 

Darker thoughts began to overwhelm me.

Senior year....

I have no hope for the future.

I've isolated myself to the point where others became concerned.

Stopped eating to the point where I had to go to a nutritionist.

I was told by my parents that I was wasting their money by being there.

I am sorry for your pain, but as stated before your talent and skill with words is your release and value to the world. The negative expressed to you by others including your parents are people that are having their own issues in life and they are taking it out on you. Forgive them and move on with your life. Another mentor is just around the corner. If you have counselor at school, discuss the need for a mentor. Good luck and there are many of us that appreciate you.

Chin Up Jennifer! One thing life has taught me is that only a few people get to go through events because they are the only ones who can make it...learn from it...and be able to help others through it....because we lived it. Many of this world's greatest artists (be they painters, musicains, or writers) suffered with depression....so I consider it an honor to be bilingual, to be human, and to be able to write.

Our ability to write for ourselves and others, keeps the darkest part of depression away. Hugs to you!
