"

What else should be said? But what can't-

"

1.

Tables

Kept as a battlefield

Stapled on the wall of a classroom

Where all the children love only one side

And swear at 60

When death is five feet away and growing happy

That it was all alright

Because at the age of 12

They believed.

2.

So what I cheated

I’ve cheated

I cheat

What are you going to do?

Pretend like I’m not the best thing that’s happened to you?

Pretend like you aren’t still in love with me?

Pretend like it never happened?

This is me and you

Road kill in a book you kept to press flowers

Get over it

And love me.

3.

Beggar, douse your self-portrait

In something kingly

Where all the jesters dress like men

And windows open to the sorrow

Of another day dried out in the old sun.
