When's Good for You?

When's Good for You?

A Poem by HighBrowCulture
"

Auschwitz Heart.

"

1.

When’s good for you?

Cause I just want to lie in a field somewhere

And peel the stars out of the blackness.

2.

I wish that night

When we were nearly naked under the canopy

And you were hungry for me

That I fed you and you fed me

Everything

And I wish I fingered the valleys in your skin

And tasted the waterfalls in your afternoon

And baptized my lips with the miles of heaven

You wear so casually, as if you were a night

Alone, with a million flowering stars

And only me to gaze and wonder.

3.

It makes me sick

To imagine that another grit might touch you

And go inside you

To tunnel

To poison

To infect

God, it makes me sick

As if Auschwitz grew in my stomach

Like the vines around my soul.
