My Desolation Row

My Desolation Row

A Poem by HighBrowCulture
"

I would crucify myself to save you.

"

I want to tear the pages out of this magazine

The ones where I’m on a bloody knee in the corner of some place

I thought was a hometown

And I’m coughing up words and postage stamps

Someone else sold me for an unfair price

In a joint I thought had to be a cathedral

But even with all that hurt and the hurt I know will come

I refuse to burn the pages, to regret

That I was there once, that I had done this or that

That I was dogmatic and drunk and got dumped out of school

Because you know this long walk I’ve taken

Through cemeteries of hung dreams?

Well I’d do it again and again and again

All because it led me here, to you-
