Chicago Motel

Chicago Motel

A Poem by HighBrowCulture
"

What is human anymore...

"

Child, you’ve become a carcass

Freezing in the doorway of a Chicago motel

You’re scaring off all the hookers you know

And that’s bad for business…

But I don’t suppose you were human once

You’re far too patient

And you turn with the world

Around and around and around-

And your buried eyes, they remind me of an old commercial

Like the ones they fed me when I was still an inkpad

‘Don’t drown your dreams’

‘Don’t confuse a pill for a pillow’

A ghost has more skin then you do

But you’ve got all the soul

To sit there and turn with the world

Around and around and around.

You can tell a story. A powerful poem. So many strong statements made this poem a outstanding poem. My favorite is the first four lines. Ending was so bad either. Thank you for your words.

Interesting poem.
I really like how you end it, and the first stanza especially.
This gives off a little sense of suspense, for me, and a bit of mystery.
Thanks for sharing.
