RawA Poem by HighBrowCultureRaw Footage From the Back of a See-Saw
I dip my toes in the sky because I'm tired of this electric dirt
Then you go and plant some heart the color of Babel And it tears a hole straight through my prayer Remember when I wrote you a love letter in crayon And you wrung it out like a hangman and returned me wet ink? Well, that's what I get I suppose- Forgiveness only stitches a cut that won't heal The rain sounds lovely tonight Like an Old Man dancing the Tandava on dead coals I stare at the puddles and smile They look like bodies and remind me of the children in our city I try swallowing the words in my head If I don't they become overcrowded and leak Like skeletons parading down the drain in the middle of a desert Mommy says bleed your thoughts often It'll keep you healthy and sane- just how they like it... If this is god's Then he needs therapy for his nightmares and addictions Because this is human Bottling the cure for cancer and selling it for a bathtub full of gold © 2010 HighBrowCulture |
